Who We Are
Barry Shulman, Founder

Since 1987 Barry Shulman has been working with smart, articulate, creative and interesting people from all walks of life as a principal of an executive search firm that works primarily with public relations, corporate marketing and issues management professionals. He understands the subtle nuances, predilections and motivations of people and helps match employers with the talent they seek. Through almost three decades of "match making" it has become obvious most people are intrinsically kind hearted and want to help others. Passionate about the plight of children, especially the most marginalized children in the world – orphans – Shulman founded KVV in 2011 to match the efforts and intentions of the traveling public with the desperate need for volunteers of the world's orphanages. KVV reflects Barry's love for travel and passion to better the lives of orphans. Barry is also a trained life coach who has also studied and led seminars on holistic hands-on healing with practitioners on both coasts. He is a graduate of Temple University with a BS in Sociology and Psychology. When not working with senior management teams on executive mandated search projects, or figuring out to get KVV in front of the masses, Barry can found hiking in the Marin Headlands. He resides with his family in suburban San Francisco.

Devon Jaffe-Urell, Director

Her love of travel and exploration of cultures began with family trips in the U.S., Europe and Costa Rica. She then travelled independently to Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Greece and Spain. With the Lewis and Clark overseas program she spent four months in East Africa, including home stays with families as varied as Kenyans in Nairobi and Masai near Arusha, Tanzania. After graduation she spent six months travelling the world, with time spent in Peru, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Egypt, India, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Her interest in psychology is accompanied by that of international public health and service, making her work with Karma Volunteer Vacations an excellent opportunity to combine her passions with work.
